How much will you get paid for your book? If your book is published by a traditional publisher, you will be receiving anywhere from 1%-25% for each book sold. That doesn’t sound fair, especially considering that YOU did the hard work of writing the book.
At Saint Paul Press, you get more!
In fact, you get 100% of the royalties from your book sales. AND, you are paid directly from the biggest book seller in the history of publishing, Amazon.com. No money from Amazon passes through St. Paul Press. It goes directly from Amazon to your bank account.
Most authors receive the overwhelming majority of their sales via Amazon.com. We would venture to say that over 90% of our book sales are made through Amazon.com and Amazon Kindle, with more and more books being sold through the Kindle store on an app for any device or on the Kindle device itself. Amazon.com is the undisputed champion of book sales; there is just no getting around that.
Below are some examples.
Sales Made through Amazon.com
For all books sold through Amazon.com, authors receive 100% of the amount that Amazon.com pays for the book.
For example: If your book retails for $12.99, Amazon.com pays authors 30% of the retail price of $12.99, which is $3.89. The author will receive 100% of what Amazon.com pays. The author receives the entire $3.89.
Sales Made through Amazon Kindle
For all e-books sold through Amazon Kindle, authors receive 100% of the amount that Amazon.com pays for the e-book.
For example: If your e-book retails for $3.99, Amazon pays authors 70% of the retail price of $3.99, which is $2.79. The author will receive 100% of what Amazon.com pays. The author receives the entire $2.79.
Sales that you Make Personally
You keep everything, minus the printing costs.
For example: if your book retails for 12.99, and printing costs $5.49, you will be paid the entire $7.50.
Sales Made through Our Distributors (All bookstore chains, such as Barnes & Noble, Family Christian, and independent stores)
For all books sold through our distributors to bookstores, libraries, wholesalers, etc., authors receive 100% of what the distributor pays St. Paul Press for the book.
For example: If your book retails for 12.99. The distributor pays us 40% of the retail price of $12.99, on average, which is $5.19. The author will receive 100% ($5.19) of what the distributor pays.
